Izu Green Matcha has its roots in Japan’s centuries-old tradition of cultivating and preparing powdered green tea. Over time, Japanese tea growers refined the cultivation and processing of the leaves, developing the distinctive matcha that is enjoyed today.
The Izu region of Shizuoka is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and long-standing connection to tea cultivation. Matcha is produced from carefully grown green tea leaves that are shaded before harvest, then steamed, dried, and finely ground into a vibrant green powder. Unlike traditional steeped tea, the entire leaf is consumed when matcha is whisked into water, creating its characteristic rich flavour, smooth texture, and naturally vibrant colour.
